Vietnam Fire and Rescue Police Department has stopped issuing Inspection Certificates for elevator doors and dividers

EM – In the latest Decree related to the implementation regulations of the Law on Fire Prevention and Fighting, the fire-resistant structural components including fire-resistant doors and dividers of elevators have been removed from the list of fire protection equipment subject to inspection. Accordingly, these structural components will no longer require an Inspection Certificate issued by the Fire and Rescue Police Department.

Specifically, Decree No. 50/2024/ND-CP amends and supplements certain articles of Decree No. 136/ND-CP on elaboration of the law on Fire Prevention and Fighting; the Law on amendments to the Law on Fire Prevention and Fighting. Decree No. 50/2024 of the government was promulgated on May 10, 2024, and will officially take effect from May 15, 2024.

Compared to Decree No. 136/2020/ND-CP, Decree No. 50/2024/ND-CP (Appendix VII. List of fire prevention and fighting equipment subject to inspection) has removed the fire-resistant structural components including fire protection doors and fire protection dividers.

Previously, the procedures and documents for fire prevention and fighting for fire protection doors and fire protection dividers had to go through 3 stages:

(1) Testing to issue the Test Report

(2) Inspection to issue the Inspection Report (by a Fire Prevention and Fighting Inspection Center)

(3) Inspection Certificate (issued by the Fire and Rescue Police Department)

The Testing and Inspection stages are carried out and issued by one of the three Fire Prevention and Fighting Equipment Inspection Centers. The Inspection Certificate is issued by the Fire and Rescue Police Department.

Therefore, from May 15, 2024, units will no longer need to apply for an Inspection Certificate for elevator doors and dividers.

The three Fire Prevention and Fighting Equipment Inspection Centers include:

1. Fire Prevention and Fighting Science and Technology Application Research Center – University of Fire Prevention and Fighting

2. Vietnam Institute for Building Science and Technology

3. Phuong Nam Prevent and Fight Fire Tech Company Limited
